  • Installation

High-speed search with expanded search capabilities

To install the app, click on either the Add app button on the application's page in the App Store or installation buttons on our website.

You will be redirected to the page of your shop’s web address selection. You need to enter the web address of the store where you would like to install the application.

You should enter the address that is used to log in to the store management system (e.g.: https://YOUR-SHOP-NAME.myshopify.com). Next - click on the Install button. Then you will need to log in to your store if you have not.

If you are the owner of only one shop and you are logged in it, all these steps will be skipped automatically and you will be immediately redirected to the page of your shop’s management system, where you will have to confirm the installation by clicking on the Install App button.

Synchronization of your product catalog with the search base will begin immediately after the install process is finished, and the default search on your website will be switched to our search.

The app is disabled on your storefront after the installation by default. Your store visitors utilize the Shopify built-in search engine. To replace the default Shopify search with AI Search and enable its work on your storefront, you should click on the "Enable AI Search" button in Settings section.

Your shop's visitors will be able to enter search queries in the search box and see instant results. If they press Enter or click on the search icon, they will be redirected to the page with all search results for the query they have entered.

The key difference between our search and others is that it does not need to be configured to start working. The design will automatically adjust to the selected store theme, the system will synchronize all items in your shop, and it will not take much time.

If you are installing the application for the first time, you will be provided with a trial for 30 days without any limitations.

If you previously installed our application, removed it and then reinstalled, then the trial period is counted from the date of the first installation. If the trial has already expired, you will be automatically assigned to the Free subscription plan. This means that only 50 earliest added items will be synchronized.

If you need to extend the trial for your development store, do not hesitate to reach us out and we will fix this.

In case your shop is already running with more than 50 items in the product range, we recommend you to consider choosing another more appropriate subscription plan.

When you install the application, it creates a page on your website - https://{YOUR-SHOP-NAME}/pages/search-results. This page will be used for showing all synchronized products and filters which you may apply to them.

  • Synchronization

High-speed search with expanded search capabilities

After installing the app, you can go to the Synchronization section by clicking the Sync icon in the application’s menu to track the synchronization of your catalog and the search database. The more items there are in your catalog, the longer the first synchronization will take. On average, it takes from a few seconds to several minutes.

Any time you make changes to the catalog (delete, add or edit items), synchronization will occur automatically unless it is turned off.

In this section, you can see synchronization progress: the number of synchronized and unsynchronized products, as well as the date and time of last synchronization. The amount of items synchronized depends on the chosen subscription plan. Our application synchronizes products as they were added: from earliest to latest.

To check whether a specific item is synchronized you may enter its name in the Search example field. The synchronized product will show up in search results.

What you should know if you are assigned to the Free subscription plan: synchronization occurs twice a day (once in 12 hours) but deleted items are removed immediately.

Since our application performs search of items not only by name, but also by multiple indirect criteria (product collections and other options), collections and other data are synchronized both separately and simultaneously. Such approach ensures that customers will find relevant products in your catalog.

  • Search design and algorithm

High-speed search with expanded search capabilities

There is no need to configure the display of the search: the design will automatically adjust to the theme of your store immediately after the installation. Furthermore, it will adapt to mobile devices so that you do not have to worry about that.

When a user starts typing a search query, the system shows search results, including products, suggestions and categories (brand, type, vendor, collection). If you point the mouse cursor over a category, the list of found products will be updated and you will see items from this category.

What makes our search application stand out:

    1. There is an instant search in the application that starts working right after you type a character in the search box and updates search results after each new character is added.
    2. Search is performed across all categories and product properties, including descriptions of product collections a product belongs to; product options, vendors, prices, etc. All details are taken into account to provide a user with relevant items if (s)he, for example, does not remember the product name.
    3. Our search automatically adjusts to the context of your store and ranks search results in accordance with your business specifics.
    4. An in-built system of product ratings (that features most popular items that are searched most often), allows to display the items that customers will most likely want to buy at the top of search results.
    5. If a user misspells a word, the system recognizes mistakes and offers relevant products.
    6. Bonus: you may reach us out and we will individually adjust the ranking system for your specific business needs.
    7. Our application allows customers to search by various product options – thanks to this, they get the most relevant search results and easily find what they are looking for.
    8. We have gone even further and introduced the feature that enables e-commerce shoppers to add a product to cart directly from search results. The button is active both on the search results page and in the instant search page. When users click the "Add to cart" button, they get two options: to either specify the characteristics of the product (quantity, color, origin, etc.) and after that add to cart or immediately add the item to shopping cart.

If your store visitor types a search query and then presses Enter or clicks on the search icon, they will be redirected to the page with all search results for the query they have entered. On this page a customer will be able to refine the search query with the help of special filters.

    More peculiarities:

    1. Store visitors have access to all options that characterize products in filters: not only default, but also custom, unique to your store.
    2. If you have a very diverse catalog, you are provided with a few options for displaying filters: a drop-down list, search window or "show all" button.
    3. When using filters, a user sees the "Show N products" button, so that they are aware of how many items are found for this particular query and filters set. By clicking on this button, a user can proceed to the refined search results.
    4. Various sorting options are available to users. By default, search results are sorted by relevance. Other options include sorting by popularity, newness, price.
    5. In case a user has entered a completely irrelevant query, they will see a list of the most popular products (based on search queries of your store visitors).
  • Trial

High-speed search with expanded search capabilities

We provide all stores with a trial version of our application for a 30-day period starting from the first installation date. If you need to extend the trial for your development store, just reach us out and we will fix this.

If the trial has already expired, you will be automatically assigned to the Free subscription plan. If during trial period you choose another subscription plan, it will be automatically activated after trial expiration.

  • Plans and payments

High-speed search with expanded search capabilities

If you have a large catalog or are planning to extend the product range, we recommend you to select the appropriate subscription plan. The option is available in the Plans section of the application’s menu. Your current subscription plan is framed. To choose another one, click on the Choose plan button.

After choosing a subscription plan and pressing the button, you will be redirected to the confirmation page. On this page, you will need to confirm your subscription by pressing the Approve charges button.

Note that this option is unavailable for development stores, and after the trial period you will be automatically assigned to the Free subscription plan. If you need more time for trying out our application, just reach us out and we will fix this.

In case you have selected one of the subscription plans except for the Free, the plan is activated at once, and you will pay for it together with your next Shopify Payment. If you are still using the trial version, your subscription plan will count from the trial expiration and you will pay next month.

Choosing a subscription plan, note that you can save money if you opt for an annual plan. The money will be debited at a time in the first month. At the end of the subscription period (in a year), you will receive a letter* informing you that the plan will be renewed for another year.

To prevent our email messages from being caught in spam filters, be sure to whitelist the email address AISearch-support@sumatosoft.com.

You will have to confirm the subscription plan renewal by clicking a link in the letter. In case you do not confirm the renewal, you will be automatically assigned to the free subscription plan with some restrictions (e.g., no more than 50 items in the product catalog). However, you can change your subscription plan at any time.
